What Customers Say About Professional-Grade 3/8" 'Close Quarters' Right-Angle Drill - Pistol Grip:

Bought this primarily to use with wire brushes for auto restoration, but had occasion to install an oak threshold with countersink bit - power level is impressive. The jacobs chuck helps to make sure bits are held securely.

(Freshly sharpened drill bit too). With a small press, I pressed gear tight onto the shaft. HOWEVER, I was able to complete seven 1/4" holes in 1 inch wood before it began slipping as though a gear was stripped. I needed a right angle drill diver for tight space for one project so the price was right. I ordered this and had it shipped to me here in Japan by family. There is no need for this to happen even on a tool this inexpensive. The result was just " gear spin" on the shaft. There was enough space for the gear to slide back, loosing its grip on the shaft.

After re-assembly, it worked fine. What I found was poor design and assembly at one point.Gear #13 is/was pressed onto a slightly tapered spindle shaft. I knew that any problems would be on me to fix or eat. Then I used a tight fitting spacer from a home made UHMW washer to keep the gear in place and yet let it be as friction free as possible. There was no sound or rough feel like a gear stripped, so I decided to take it apart. It fits like a morse taper. Most people cannot or will not do this, and if they can, I don't blame them if they don't. IF it were not for this, I would give it a 4 rating.

I needed this drill for a specific job, and it performed very well. It has a hair trigger. I continue to use it occasionally. I find the variable speed hard to control. It would be easier to control the speed if the trigger spring was stronger. I don't know how it would stand up to hard use, but at the price who cares.

I can start a fractional drill bit by using slow speed then speeding up as necessary. I've had this little drill now for 10 months, using it only occasionally. The span needed to hold and apply the paddle is a little large to my liking. It does fit into small places; it's a cheap knockoff; the "toothed" part of the chuck does not extend very far making chuck opening adjustments a little tedious. I haven't had any problems with the variable speed paddle. I am average build (5'10"). Probably a larger person would have no problem, but for occasional use I am satisfied.

Delivery prompt, product is as advertised. I think the first is repairable buy since the mfg. At it's price I can buy one every two years and still get 10-12 years of service versus a "name" brand. ago. For example I use mine 1-2 times per month. It failed internally. It is identical except for case color to one I bought from Klingspor about 2 yre. is China there is no source for parts that I know of.

I really don't expect more than 18 mo. to two years of service from it. Bottom line is don't expect it to last more than 2 years as a moderate user. Not very good is it.
